One volume knob and a two-way gain switch provide you all the dirt most folks need. There is no gain knob. The switch selects one of two preset gain levels. This pedal loves loud crunchy amps and being stacked with overdrives. Running into a clean amp will deliver less gainy drive tones that still give you plenty of dirt.
The controls are simple and to the point: a volume knob and a two way switch beside it. The first selection on the switch provides lower gain open-feeling dirt similar to a cranked champ. The second stage is a strong, meaty, clear fuzz/distortion tone that doesn't get flubby or shrill. It has an aggressive sound that doesn't override the tonal quality of the guitar. Either setting will clean up when you lower the volume on your guitar or use some dynamics in your playing.
Uses 9v/200mA center negative power supply (not included). This pedal does not use batteries.
